Ian Norbury is recognised as one of the worlds leading wood sculptors, with works in Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. The disk includes plan drawings, still photographs and 80 minutes of detailed video instruction. Here this living master provides one-to-one virtual training for aspiring woodcarvers, as he carves and explains his techniques for producing a finished piece.
He recommends a fairly plain timber for this work, such as limewood/basswood, so that the grain of the wood will not dominate the shape of the piece. Ian guides the viewer, step by step, through the complexities of carving a beautiful full female figure.
