When her husband finds out he kills the troubadour and feeds Agns his heart, unbeknown to her. The opera tells the story of a troubadour Bejun Mehta who has an affair with his employer Christopher Purves's wife Agns Barbara Hannigan.
When she discovers what she has done she is driven to suicide.
