In this instalment, the Doctor Baker and his companion Sarah Jane Elisabeth Sladen find themselves in 15th-century Italy before the Doctor departs for Gallifrey, alone, where the Master Peter Pratt is setting in motion a ploy to destroy the planet. When he lands on a planet at war, the Doctor befriends warrior Leela Louise Jameson, who becomes his new companion. Their travels lead them to encounter killer robots and a scheming Chinese magician in Victorian London.
