Crime drama in which a young New Yorker from the wrong side of the tracks aims for a better life. While his father is busy, Mike grasps any opportunity to indulge his favourite pastime - photography - recording the disappearing life and characters he sees in his neighborhood. Living with his semi-retired father in Brooklyn, 20 year old Mike Manadoro Kevin Zegers spends his days driving his father Vinny Vincent D'Onofrio around town for his numbers-running sideline.
But with funds a problem, and his father too proud to ask for help, Mike soon has to take matters into his own hands, leading him down roads he doesn't want to take. When his portfolio comes to the attention of a local professor, he's offered a partial scholarship to attend a top-flight university in Manhattan.
