After receiving facial surgery to repair the injuries she sustained in a Nazi concentration camp, Jewish singer Nelly Lenz Nina Hoss searches for her husband Johnny Ronald Zehrfeld, who, according to her friend Lene Nina Kunzendorf, has betrayed her. Nelly hopes to discover that Johnny still loves her but when she finds him he doesn't recognise her.
